DJI to FLIR: use your drone images in Thermal Studio
How to bring DJI thermal images into FLIR Thermal Studio with their temperatures.
Moving from DJI software to FLIR Thermal Studio
Many teams fly with DJI drones and analyse in FLIR Thermal Studio for its measurement tools, reports and standard workflows. The gap is the file: DJI's thermal data is not in a form FLIR software can read. ThermaBridge closes it, one shot or a whole flight at a time.
The workflow
- Copy the original images off the drone or card, with the thermal (
_T), zoom (_Z) and wide (_W) files together. - Upload the folder to ThermaBridge and choose a palette and span.
- Download the converted files and open them in FLIR Thermal Studio.
- Hover over the image. You should see a temperature at each point, and the Measurements panel lists the image maximum, minimum and average along with the parameters used.
What carries across
- The temperature of every pixel.
- The measurement parameters stored by the drone, shown in Thermal Studio's parameter panel.
- GPS position.
- The visible picture, taken from the zoom photo or else the wide photo.
What does not
- DJI's own annotations and any measurements drawn in DJI software.
- The metadata of the drone itself beyond what is listed above.
Tip. If a file opens as a plain picture, the transfer has probably stripped its metadata. Compare a checksum of the file before and after copying. Our step-by-step guide shows how.
